Testing candidates in real-life modeled situations
Many candidates are perfectly capable of writing a compelling CV. There are some, who are able to prepare themselves for an interview perfectly. But how can one really test the hard skills? And the probability of fitting in? How do you know they are capable of hard work? Wouldn’t it be better to hire an internal candidate, who is already working within your company?
We, at Personal Connect, believe that Assessment Center is the solution for your worries. Assessment Center (AC) is a service we provide as a part of the hiring process, where we test candidates based on the situations they will be facing in the future.
This is what it takes to make some serious and evaluated judgments by means of AC:
- With our client we set up a detailed description of the position
We identify skills, experience and personal traits necessary to carry out the day to day responsibilities. We recommend to concentrate on the following qualities:
- Analytical thinking
- Organisation of and project leadership
- Negotiation skills and the ability to motivate others
The results of the job analysis will enable us to create tasks that will correspond with the situations, which the future employee would face at work. These tasks will be carried out in a way that the candidate will engage with his future colleagues. Therefore, in many cases we don’t tend to focus just on general observation of the candidate’s ability to communicate, but the ability to use these skills amongst their potential colleagues.
The final evaluation is based on standardized methodology, whereby you will receive our recommendations. We also take the feedback of the internal personnel, present at the interviews, into consideration.
The testing itself usually lasts one day. Assessment Centres can be of great benefit for the candidates themselves, for there, they have the unique opportunity to get to know their potential employer, as well as learn more about themselves and their abilities.
The right evaluation of AC gives you a high level of certainty that:
- The best candidate was chosen based on their real capabilities rather than self-presentation.
- There will be significantly lower risk of them failing certain task, avoiding the element of the negative surprise.
- The candidate is able to remain calm and judge a situation appropriately, even under stress
If the position requires a minimum space for failure and its profile is complex, we are here to advise you which steps to take in order to have a successful candidate a minimize the potential for human error.
