A multinational group engaged in manufacturing roof windows and related products, which wanted to make better use of the potential of Slovak market, a market that offers many opportunities, but where the suppliers face fierce foreign competition focusing on low price.

 

The initial analysis showed that the key to success in this case is the personality of the Sales director. It was obvious that the "usual" sales director would not be enough. VELUX needed someone, who is not only able to manage the sale, but someone with a strong personality who could:

 

  • deliver and implement a specific strategy for the Slovak market,
  • inspire, motivate and manage well the members of the sales team.
     

It was therefore necessary to define in detail the candidate's personality profile. The next step was finding people, who would meet such requirements and wake in them the interest to apply for this position at VELUX. Personal Connect found candidates that met the prespecified requirements almost to the dot. They also fit the corporate culture of VELUX perfectly. Testing candidates in real life situations

One of the main makers of restaurant machinery and equipment has a distribution center at the outskirts of Prague. Indeed this branch plays a key role in the structure of Duke Manufacturing as it covers a vast area of the world map including Europe, Middle-East and Africa.

 

The selcting process for Logistics Manager proved to be quite a tough nut to crack. This was due to the reason that many candidates have not been able to match their CV qualities with the real ones.

 

For that reason, Personal Connect prepared an Assesment Center, which have enabled to test the skills of each candidate in situations very simmilar to those, which they would be facing on daily basis. The secondary goal was to test if this position would fit within the structure of the company.

 

The Assesment Center consisted of:

  • Putting together a list of key compentecies - abilities and qualities that would be neccessary for this possition.

  • Preparing models of real-life situatuions in order to test their knowledge as well as personal and professional qualities such as the ability to lead, cooperate, accept personal responsibility for a mistake and learn from it etc. These tasks included for example coping with the results of an audit, a key meeting with the top managment, meeting with a colleague and the ability persuade.

  • The process was partly done in Czech and some parts were done in English.

  • The people had to cooperate with their potential future colleagues.

 

With the first wave of candidates, we have came to a conclusion that all the candidates we have considered were not in line with our needs at that time. We have therefore decided to choose Assesment Center in order to reach a successful conclusion. Personal Connect proved its key role and their cooperation with our managment provided us with the right candidate. Thanks to the testing we were sure that we have made the right choice.
